Instructor profile - Steve Rose
My first introduction to WingChun Kung-Fu was over twenty years ago when a friend of mine began training the system. He explained to me some of the things he was learning which fascinated me but foolishly I didn't take up the system at that time.
It was in 1997 at the age of 28 that I answered an advert in our local paper for WingChun Kung-fu lessons, and nervously walked into the training hall alone, not knowing what to expect.
My mind was put at rest as soon as I met Sifu Tony Hollander whose clear, concise instruction and friendly manner soon made me feel very at home.
Eleven years later I am still a student of Tony's and am very proud to have reached the grade of First Technician within the International Academy of WingChun.
I was unsure of what I wanted when I first started my martial arts training, the one thing I did know was that I needed to learn to defend myself on the street. Having now seen many different martial arts and trained with some of the top instructors in their fields I am absolutely sure that WingChun Kung-Fu was the right choice for me and has given me so much more than just the ability to defend myself properly.
