WingChun is taught using
three specific methods.

There are six traditional Forms (fixed movement patterns)
in WingChun:
"The Little Idea", emphasises
the hand positions and strikes that will form the basis
of a student's training.
"Seeking the Bridge", contains
very specific footwork and kicks as well as combinations
of the hand techniques from the "Little Idea"
Form.
"Thrusting Fingers" adds
aggressive and dangerous attacking methods and emergency
techniques to the already formidable system.
The Wooden Dummy Form is trained on
specialist apparatus and takes the movements and ideas
a student has already learnt and shows how to apply
them under different circumstances.
The Long Pole Form and the Double
Knives Form are the two traditional weapons
forms of WingChun which a student can learn in conjunction
with their senior grading programmes.
The majority of a WingChun class is taken up with partner training. This can take the form of technical training, self-defence techniques or free training for more advanced students. Not only does this training build good physical skills, but also a sense of camaraderie and friendship between students.

Also partner training, but here the student learns the
unique visual and tactile sensitivity exercises that WingChun
is renowned for. Often misunderstood, Chi Sao training
is an indispensable aid to self-defence training and is
essential to a full understanding of the WingChun system
- it is also a therapeutic and highly addictive training
method!
