26th August 2008

Congratulations to the following IAW-UK students who passed the examination for the First Technician Level over the weekend of Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th August 2008

IAW students who passed their First Technician Level examination

Steve Bowler, Tayo Davy, Pete Jackson, Natasha Morling, Steve Robinson, Steve Rose, Julian Weston, Greg Willis, Lee Wilson.

The test lasted more than 8 hours over the two days and was conducted by Grandmaster Klaus Brand. During the test, the examinees were asked to show a wide variety of skills, from the very basic, fundamental programmes to the programmes learnt specifically for the First Technician Level. It was fantastic to see the years of training pay off and to see the effort, concentration and determination of everyone there. The presentation of the certificates really was a proud moment for us. Congratulations again to you all.

29th June 2008

On Sunday 29th June 2008, UK Head Instructors Tony Hollander and Ed Pettitt were both extremely proud to receive the title 'Sifu of WingChun' from their teacher, Grandmaster Klaus Brand.

The title is awarded primarily for the long-term dedication to teaching WingChun and for the quality of that teaching, so to receive the title (and unexpectedly!) was a very special moment for Tony and Ed. The certificates were presented at the end of a fantastic all-day seminar in Stuttgart, Germany, which was part of a weekend of seminars celebrating the 5th Anniversary of The International Academy of WingChun. Many other grade levels and teaching qualifications were awarded at the seminar and congratulations to all of them, but of special note congratulations to Sihing Paul Wang, USA Head Instructor, on attaining the Third Technician Level, and to Sifu Alexander Lemuth and Sifu Dirk Illig on attaining the Master Degree! Many thanks and best wishes to Grandmaster Klaus Brand for a great honour and a very special and inspiring weekend.
